Corks + Caftans

Hey, nineteen.

February 2, 2011 13 Comments

Quick recap of my passage into my third decade:

[My fantastic new vintage squash blossom necklace.]

I’d go into our riveting match of Pictionary, but I wouldn’t want to paint my family in a light that portrays us as genitalia- or toilet-obsessed. So here I am in a rare forlorn-looking moment. Or maybe I’m ogling the presents on the coffee table.

L’Aventure birthday RosΓ© from Rob:

[ASOS eyelet tiered maxi skirt.]

We tried to remember my 10th birthday (some well-planned event in Richmond, I’m sure), my 20th birthday (disast-a-mundo-a-go-go!) and decided this one topped them all. “The end of your tumultuous twenties,” my dad said, scratching Eli on the cheek.

[Kenneth Jay Lane + Low Luv Erin Wasson rings /Β Made with Love bracelets + Gorjana charm bracelet.]

[Making a wish while I had “Lola” stuck in my head; I hope this doesn’t alter the outcome, like when Ray thought about the Stay Puft marshmallow man in Ghostbusters.]

[My father art directs a shot.]

[Communicating with my new necklace. I’ve wanted one for more years than I can count, so I’m still in a bit of shock she’s mine.]

[Chatting with relatives around the country.]

Man. What a fantastic birthday. Thanks for all the nice birthday wishes, kids. Seriously—had me smiling all day.

-Carey

And because I decided despite being 30 I still feel about 19…

Wow. You weren’t kidding when you said you were living in a cabin. Somehow I keep getting flashbacks to What About Bob and The Great Outdoors…except in neither of those instances was there an incredible squash blossom necklace and an eyelet tiered skirt. *tears!* Happy Birthday yet again and thanks for sharing the pics. You’re dad’s got skills.

Carey, I love that you wear things I can’t even conceive of. And yes, I just ended a sentence with a preposition.

Dale! Thank you, but you should see what some of the other ladies out there in the blogosphere whip up. It’s truly astonishing. And strangely enough, I just had a dream recently that Rob and I met you. In Philadelphia. Where you informed us, “the dining is hit or miss, but the drinking is spot on.”

      Sorry, Philly. –my subconscious.
